An unusual Google verification came related to a Google search algorithm upgrade on Tuesday, 12th March. Google restated previous advice that there is no fix if your site was negatively affected.
Google on Wednesday validated that it launched a broad core search ranking algorithm update this week.
” Our assistance about such updates remains as we’ve covered before,” the company said.
Google Search’s Liaison, Danny Sullivan confirmed this upgrade happened on March 12.
Why it matters.
Google does several core ranking updates per year and validates very few updates throughout the year. Specific to broad core updates, Google has actually said many times that you can not do anything particular to repair your rankings. Google’s previous advice is, “there’s no ‘fix’ for pages that might carry out less well besides to remain concentrated on building great material. Gradually, it might be that your material might increase relative to other pages.”
If your rankings did alter just recently, it might have been associated with this broad core ranking upgrade and not related to any changes you made on your site.
What is Different
It’s very early and difficult to guess what has changed. Based upon the SEO chatter around this update, before Google confirming the update, some are saying this was once again targeting the health/medical niche. But, Google has said there was no specific target at medical or health sites with that August 1st upgrade.
